As has been said many times, you cannot comply your way out of tyranny. Choose to treat times like these as opportunities to make a stand against the petty tyrants who, if they were honest, would admit it gets things stirring in their downstairs department.

We need to keep spreading the word about the idiocy of the mindless and fearful followers of what they've been told. I have also been in hospitals recently, and need to go back for some minor knee surgery, and now that time has passed when those silly masks were mandated in all public places, the charge has gone for me, and I've been wearing one when I go into the medical centre waiting room occasionally. But you're piece above reminds me to stay sharp. Thanks for the reminder, and the good write-up. I hope your mom's journey goes well in the coming months and years.
