Portraits of the Resistance Vol. 3 | Mark Devlin
DJ, Author and Commentator - Mark Devlin
Mark Devlin the DJ has gig’d (sic) in over 40 countries. As a journalist and author he has published 4 groundbreaking books. As a podcaster and interviewer he’s spoken to some of the most enlightened minds of our time. Mark is a man on a mission, and his mission is the truth…
Marks incredible written trilogy Musical Truth (1, 2 &3), with the first being published in 2016 after 5 years of research into the dark side of the music industry following Marks ‘conscious awakening’ in 2010, is a shocking exposé inside the web of depravity which powers the mainstream music industry. The trilogy culminates in Musical Truth Vol. 3 published in November 2021.
Since the beginning of the Pandemic™ Mark has dedicated much of his work to exposing, warning and sharing his insights, as well as others’, into the dark world of the New World Order through his Good Vibrations podcast alongside speaking events and interviews. Mark has interviewed many of the leading voices in the freedom movement and tirelessly stayed true to his conviction in documenting it all for posterity.
I meet Mark at his home. Inconspicuous and unassuming, a regular suburban home in the U.K. Midlands, housing one of the most prolific voices of national dissent. As I arrive, I’m struck by this simple, yet powerful paradox.
Mark greets me with a broad smile and invites me in, asking about the drive. We chat for a while over a builders brew, small talk really, meandering around awakenings and revelatory moments, as if these would be the typical topics of any social visit. Strange how speaking to those on a similar path of awakening feels natural and almost fluid. Perfect strangers become something more, closer, quicker than one would think, bonding over our shared traumas and experiences.
Mark is, however, thoughtful with his words. He listens attentively and contributes only when needed, but in a way that seems to enlighten the conversation. When Mark speaks, people listen. It’s a kind of sage-like or, as it occurred to me recently, a time-traveller-cum-Rave Dr Who vibe. I have had the good fortune to meet Mark a couple of times since taking these photographs. He attended my exhibition in London in December 2021, and although we’d not spoken much before or during it, he left one of the most thoughtful and moving vox-pop reviews for the media channel Ickonic, which covered it, that I have ever had.

Mark has the unnervingly unusual ability to appear both completely engaged with you and utterly lost in deep thought simultaneously. I get the feeling that, even when I’m speaking, Mark is several steps ahead of where I’m going, but paying attention nonetheless. It’s a trend that continues as we talk, Mark making minor but important corrections to my conspiracy noodling. A break in the discussion as we head to Marks office to take some pictures leads Mark to pointing out some of the quirky and wonderful items he’s been gifted over the years. Specifically, he points out a clock, designed and inspired by the latest in his Musical Truth series by a fan. I’d call it ornate. It’s clearly been made by hand, intricately replicating in mosaic form, the cover art. It’s a symbol of appreciation that seems to mean a lot to Mark. Theres pride in the way he displays the clock and one gets the sense that this, if nothing else, would be thanks enough for the endless hours of research and graft that goes into his work.
I’d been thinking about how to photograph Mark for a couple of weeks before we arrived, cycling through various shots and poses. I settle on wanting to emulate the perspective his podcast style with a wide angle, similar to the perspective of a laptop camera. A familiar setting but intended for a reader rather than a viewer. I had to wedge a camera into the gap between desk and wall and set it to focus using a manual 14mm lens. Fortunately, the focus hit the target and Mark made a fist on the table just at the moment the shutter went off.
The t-shirt? Nothing more than a happy accident.

Thanks so much Debbie! Mark is just such a stand up guy!
I have really enjoyed these Kerry. I like Mark and all he has to say. Heard him many times on podcasts especially when he talks with the sheep farm boys. Chris and Dom.
Thanks for a great read.
